In This Together: Navigating Canada's changing immigration landscape
Amid sweeping immigration policy changes, many are left feeling anxious, frustrated, or simply unsure about what comes next. From shifts in PGWP eligibility and study permit caps to evolving PR targets and public discourse, the ground beneath us is moving and fast.
In This Together is a space to unpack these changes, understand the path forward, and center the real human experiences behind immigration headlines. This two-hour session features a presentation from a certified immigration consultant by Ankita Goyal, a Q&A portion, and a community care circle designed to hold space for the emotional and personal toll of navigating uncertainty.
Whether you're in the thick of your PR journey, grappling with the idea of returning to your home country, or just trying to stay informed without burning out, this session is for you. Come with your questions, your stories, and your truth; we’re in this together.
Ankita Goyal's bio
Ankita is a dynamic and accomplished Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant – Immigration and Refugee Board (RCIC-IRB) with a wealth of knowledge in immigration law and policy. She holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship from Panjab University, where she graduated as Valedictorian. She further advanced her expertise by completing the Certificate in Immigration: Law, Policies, and Procedures at The University of British Columbia, also earning Valedictorian honors. Ankita is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education (EdD) at Northeastern University, with a research focus on immigration challenges faced by international students in North America.
Ankita currently serves as an International Student and Scholar Advisor at Northeastern University, where she is dedicated to supporting and empowering students from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds. Her in-depth knowledge of immigration regulations and government policies allows her to provide high-level guidance on study permits, co-op planning, and cultural transitions. Her efforts are rooted in fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment where international students can succeed both academically and personally.
In addition to her role in higher education, Ankita is the Managing Director of Immigracia Visa Consulting Inc., where she leads with a client-centered, analytical approach. She is known for her ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory frameworks, offering personalized solutions that help individuals and families achieve their immigration goals with clarity and confidence.
She is a member in good standing of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC), holds IRB specialization, and is a licensed immigration consultant in the Province of Saskatchewan. She is also a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in British Columbia. Her unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion informs every aspect of her work from advising international students to advocating for systemic change in the immigration landscape.
With her academic excellence, leadership in consultancy, and dedication to supporting newcomers, Ankita continues to make meaningful contributions to immigration law, international education, and professional development across Canada and beyond.

Get ready to punch it out, move to the beat, and have a blast at Rumble Mt. Pleasant! Whether you’re a seasoned boxer or a first timer, this high-energy class will have you throwing punches, building strength, and vibing to great music.
Think of it as a dance party with a side of stress relief—boxing to the beat while an awesome instructor guides you through every move. Gloves and towels are provided at no extra cost, and wraps are a must! If you don’t have your own, grab a ticket that includes wraps—you’ll get to keep them after class!
Come ready to sweat, let loose, and unleash your inner fighter. Let’s rumble!

Dana-Lyn Mackenzie (LinkedIn)
She is the Senior Manager, EDI and Indigeneity at the University of British Columbia. Dana-Lyn (born Wilson) is a member of the Hwlitsum First Nation, based in Canoe Pass, BC and a lawyer. Dana-Lyn is an elected councilor of her Coast Salish nation, serving since 2021. She has practiced criminal law and continues to practice administrative and employment law as an Associate at Acumen Law. She is a double alumna of UBC, having obtained her Bachelors of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees here.
Sabrina Ismail (LinkedIn)
Sabrina Ismail is the Regional Vice-President, Mortgage Specialists, B.C. West with RBC Royal Bank. She co-leads the business and is responsible for leadership and direction of 18 Leaders and over 400 Mortgage Specialists. Sabrina has been with RBC for over 30 years, and during her banking career, has held a number of leadership positions including Vice-President, Business Markets, B.C. and Vice-President Private Banking.
